Stephen Krashen is Emeritus Professor of Education at USC. He is is best known for developing the first comprehensive theory of second language acquisition, introducing the concept of sheltered subject matter teaching, and as the co-inventor of the Natural Approach to foreign language teaching. He has also contributed to theory and application in the area of bilingual education and literacy.
Dr. Krashen was the 1977 Incline Bench Press champion of Venice Beach, California and holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He hopes you will follow him on twitter (skrashen) so he can achieve his goal of catching up to Justin Bieber.
Nicky Hockly is Director of Pedagogy of The Consultants-E (www.theconsultants-e.com), an award-winning online training and development organisation. She has worked in the field of ELT since 1987, is an international plenary speaker, and gives seminars, in-service workshops and teacher training courses for practising language teachers all over the world. Nicky has co-written several methodology books on the application of new technologies to language teaching, the most recent of which is about learning technologies research in K-12 (Focus on Learning Technologies, OUP, 2016). Nicky lives in Barcelona, and is a technophobe turned technophile.
Philip Kerr is a teacher trainer and educational materials writer based in Vienna. His publications include the coursebook series ‘Straightforward’ and ‘Inside Out’ and the award-winning ‘Translation and Own-language Activities’ in the Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers series. In addition to his teaching and writing, he works on the development of English vocabulary apps which incorporate AI and NLP tools. He blogs about technology and English language teaching.
